Dream Jar is an app for parents to use alongside their children. A child says a dream out loud, the app turns it into words and paints a picture of that dream, and it is kept in a jar on a shelf. This page explains exactly what that involves: what we collect, where it goes, how long it stays, and how to delete it. This policy covers Dream Jar only; the GoodApp Labs website has its own policy. Dream Jar is offered in the United States.
The short version
- Your child's photo is never stored on GoodApp Labs' servers. It stays on your device. It is sent once per illustration to our image provider to draw your child, and is not kept by them for training.
- Voice recordings are not stored beyond transcription. They are used only to transcribe what your child said — never to identify anyone, never to train models.
- We store as little as possible. Without an account, the dreams, the name and the photo all stay on your device; we hold only a randomly generated identifier and a count of illustrations made. With an account, your dream jars are stored so you can reach them from any device.
- This app is for parents and guardians to use alongside their children. The parent or guardian is the primary user and operates the app.
What we collect, and why
A name for your child
Collected when you set up the app. It can be a nickname, a first name, or anything you like — it never needs to be their full or legal name, and we never ask for a surname.
It is used only so that the app can refer to your child by name. The name is stored on your device, not on our servers.
A photo of your child (optional)
Used so the illustration looks like your child rather than a generic one. The photo is stored only on your device. Your child's photo is never stored on GoodApp Labs' servers. When you choose to create an illustration using the photo, the photo is sent to our image-generation provider solely to create that illustration. The photo is not retained by them for training.
If you are in Illinois, we unfortunately are not able to provide the photo upload feature, and your illustrations will be created from the wish alone.
Your child's voice
When you tap to record, the app captures what is said so it can be turned into text. Transcription happens two ways: on your device using Apple's built-in speech recognition, and — for better accuracy — by sending the recording to our transcription provider. We explicitly opt out of that provider's model-improvement programme, so the audio is not used to train anything and is not stored beyond transcription. The recording is deleted from your device as soon as it has been transcribed.
The dreams themselves
The words of the wish, and the illustration painted from them. They are yours: we store them for one reason, to give them back to you. We don't sell them, use them for advertising, or share them with other users. They are associated with your account and protected from access by other users, unless you choose to share them.
Your phone number
Only if you create an account. Used to send a one-time code and to identify your account afterwards. We don't send marketing messages.
Technical information
Like any app that talks to a server, ours receives your device's IP address as part of that connection, along with basic diagnostic information such as app version and error reports.
What we don't collect
No surnames, no addresses, no birthdates. No advertising identifiers, no location data. We do not sell or share personal information with anyone for advertising, and we do not build profiles of children.
Who else handles this information
We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They process data on our instructions to deliver the feature you asked for. We have taken care to minimize their use and retention of your data by selecting trusted providers and opting out of AI training.

Who this app is for
Dream Jar is intended for parents and guardians to use alongside their children. The parent or guardian is the primary user. The account belongs to an adult. A child takes part by speaking a dream aloud alongside their parent — the grown-up sets the app up, decides whether to add a photo, and starts each recording.
By using Dream Jar you confirm that you are 18 or over, and that you are the parent or guardian of any child whose name, photo, or dream you add to it.
Dream Jar is offered in the United States. Our servers are located in the United States.
Children's privacy
The app is set up and operated by a parent or guardian. An adult creates the account, provides any photo, and starts each recording. We have built the app to hold as little about a child as possible:
- The photo stays on your device except when you choose to use it to create a dream in a jar illustration.
- Voice is used only to become text, and is not stored beyond transcription — never for identification, profiling, advertising, or model training.
- A nickname is fine; we never ask for a full or legal name.
We do not offer accounts to children, and the app is not designed for a child to use on their own. If you believe a child has set up Dream Jar without a parent or guardian, write to support@goodapplabs.ai and we will delete the account and everything in it.
Your choices
- Change or remove the photo, or change the name — in the app, from the profile screen.
- Delete a single dream — "Let it go" on any jar.
- Delete your account and everything in it — from the profile screen. This removes your account, your saved jars, and your stored illustrations from our servers. It cannot be undone.
- Delete everything locally — remove the app from your device.
- Ask us — write to support@goodapplabs.ai with any request about your data.
Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Saved jars and illustrations are protected so that only your account can reach them. No system is perfect, but we keep the amount of data we hold small on purpose — the strongest protection for a photo of your child is that we never keep a copy of it.
Changes
If we change how the app handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app.
